Why did you decide to be a businessman?

“From the age of 13 I became an entrepreneur. I sold candy throughout school and when I finished high school, I bought vending machines to do the selling for me. I have always been driven by the desire to create, innovate, and solve problems. The idea of building something from the ground up, taking calculated risks, and navigating challenges to achieve success excites me.

Moreover, I recognized that my strengths in leadership, strategic thinking, and communication are well-suited to entrepreneurship. I thrive in environments where I can bring together teams, inspire them, and work collaboratively towards a common vision. Business also offers me the platform to continually learn, adapt, and grow, which is something I deeply value.”

What is VBS?

“Virtual Business Staffing refers to the practice of hiring and managing a workforce that operates remotely, typically from various locations, rather than in a traditional office setting. This approach leverages digital tools and communication platforms to facilitate collaboration, productivity, and management across distances.”

Key Features of Virtual Business Staffing:

  • Remote Workforce: Employees or contractors work from different geographic locations, often from their homes or co-working spaces, rather than a central office.
  • Digital Communication: Communication is conducted through various digital channels, such as video conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams), instant messaging (e.g., Slack), email, and project management tools (e.g., Trello, Asana).
  • Flexible Work Hours: Virtual staffing often allows for more flexible work schedules, as employees may work in different time zones or at different times that suit their productivity best.
  • Cost Efficiency: Companies can save on overhead costs, such as office space, utilities, and in-office amenities, by operating virtually.
  • Access to Global Talent: Virtual staffing enables businesses to tap into a global talent pool, allowing them to hire the best candidates regardless of location.
  • Scalability: Virtual teams can be easily scaled up or down depending on the business needs, without the logistical challenges of expanding physical office space.
  • Diverse Team Dynamics: With team members from various locations, virtual staffing can bring diverse perspectives and ideas, which can be beneficial for innovation and problem-solving.

Benefits:

  • Reduced operational costs
  • Increased flexibility for employees
  • Access to a broader talent pool
  • Enhanced work-life balance for staff
  • Potentially higher employee satisfaction and retention

Challenges:

  • Managing time zone differences
  • Ensuring effective communication and collaboration
  • Maintaining company culture and team cohesion
  • Monitoring productivity and performance

Virtual business staffing has become increasingly popular, especially with the rise of digital technology and the global shift towards remote work, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a model that many businesses, from startups to large corporations, are adopting to remain agile and competitive in today’s market.

When and how did it happen?

I have used remote workers from the very talented pool of educated and hard-working Filipinos for my businesses in the past. When Dr. Livi approached me about his medical practice and using highly skilled nurses from the Philippines to do various tasks for his practice and that was the reason we collaborated to start the company.”

What made you start this business, given that you’re already a successful businessman?

“Ultimately, I chose this path because I want to make a meaningful impact, not just in terms of profit but also in contributing to society by creating jobs, fostering innovation, and driving positive change. Being a businessman allows me to align my passion with my skills, and it gives me the freedom to pursue my vision on my terms.”

The remote work industry has been growing exponentially, and competition is stiff. Was there an inspiration that made you say, “I don’t care, let’s do it!”?

“Absolutely, there was a pivotal moment that made me say, “I don’t care, let’s do it!” For me, the inspiration came from witnessing the profound shift in how people value flexibility, autonomy, and work-life balance. I realized that remote work wasn’t just a trend—it was the future. The freedom to work from anywhere, the opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals across the globe, and the chance to build something meaningful that resonates with this new way of working were all incredibly compelling.

Moreover, I saw how hiring from a highly talented and educated workforce out of the Philippines I saw it as a win-win win for everyone. Companies are able to save 50 to 70% on their payroll cost. The hard-working Filipinos are paid more on an hourly basis and Virtual Business Staffing as a company when as a default of our clients winning and our Filipino workforce winning.

So, despite the challenges, I embraced the opportunity with a mindset that blended optimism, resilience, and a genuine belief in the transformative power of remote work. That’s what keeps me going every day—knowing that I’m part of a movement that’s redefining the future of work.”

How do you set yourself apart from other virtual outsourcing businesses?

“To set myself apart from other virtual outsourcing businesses, I focus on several key differentiators that resonate with my clients and align with my business values:

1. Personalized Service: Unlike many outsourcing companies that take a one-size-fits-all approach, I prioritize understanding the unique needs of each client. By offering tailored solutions and maintaining a close relationship with my clients, I ensure that the services provided are a perfect fit for their specific requirements and business goals.

2. Specialized Expertise: I focus on niches where I have deep expertise, whether that’s in a specific industry, a particular type of service, or a unique technology. This specialization allows me to offer a higher level of skill and knowledge, which translates into superior results for my clients.

3. Quality Over Quantity: Rather than trying to scale rapidly or take on every client, I’m selective about the projects I undertake. This focus on quality ensures that my team can deliver outstanding work consistently, which builds a strong reputation and leads to long-term client relationships.”

What would you like to say to business owners who are hesitant about getting virtual assistants for their trade?

“I completely understand the hesitation—bringing a virtual assistant (VA) into your business might seem like a leap, especially if you’re accustomed to managing everything in-house. However, consider this: a virtual assistant can be one of the most strategic decisions you make for your business. Here’s why:

  • Reclaim Your Time: As a business owner, your time is your most valuable asset. A VA can take over time-consuming tasks, allowing you to focus on what really drives your business forward—strategic decisions, innovation, and client relationships.
  • Cost-Effective Support: Hiring a VA is often more affordable than bringing on a full-time employee. You only pay for the work that needs to be done, without the additional costs associated with office space, equipment, or benefits. It’s a cost-effective way to expand your team. In addition, companies will save 50%-70% on their payroll costs. If that isn’t enough to get one’s attention then I don’t think anything else was get their attention!
  • Tap into Specialized Expertise: VAs bring a wide array of skills, often honed by working with multiple businesses. Whether you need administrative support, digital marketing, customer service, or specialized project work, there’s a VA with the expertise you need.
  • Scalability: Your business needs can fluctuate—sometimes you need more support, sometimes less. A VA offers the flexibility to scale up or down as your business requires, without the long-term commitment of a permanent hire.
  • Maintain Focus on Core Business: By delegating non-core activities to a VA, you and your in-house team can concentrate on the essential parts of the business—those that directly contribute to growth and profitability.
  • Boost Productivity: A VA can help streamline your processes, manage your time better, and keep you organized. This results in increased productivity, not just for you, but for your entire business.
  • Work-Life Balance: It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind, but a VA can help you manage your workload more effectively, allowing you to maintain a healthier work-life balance.
  • Stay Competitive: In a fast-paced business environment, agility is crucial. A VA can help you stay responsive to opportunities and challenges, ensuring that your business remains competitive and adaptable.”
