We are now at the beginning of the second quarter of 2024. Some of us have begun ticking off their “To-Do” list. Some may have progressed by leaps and miles, however, many are probably still in that “planning zone, where your mind is ready but your body is not or the other way around. The many times we procrastinate to do the things we ought to do and do it last minute resulting in us being exasperated in mind and body is a routine that one must break. The many resolutions we had at the beginning of the year seem so far off now even though it’s only April. To put it simply, you lack motivation in this ever-changing world leaving you feeling overwhelmed and stuck in old habits. But fret not, because, with the right strategies and mindset, you can set yourself up for success and truly start your year right, and yes, it doesn’t matter if it’s already April. You do YOU!

How was last year?
Before entering a new battlefield and diving head first into new goals and resolutions, take some time to reflect on the past year. What were your successes and failures? What were your lessons? By allocating specific time for work, leisure, and self-improvement activities, you are sure to maintain a healthy balance in your life.

Try Again
Life will inevitably involve failure, that’s where most of our life lessons come from, but how we handle it is what really counts. Reframe failure as an opportunity for learning rather than as a setback. What can you learn from it, and how can you apply it to advance yourself? You do not stop if you make a wrong turn going to your destination, right? You go back and try again.

Internalizing Chameleon
If you haven’t noticed by now, life is made out of curve balls. Setting objectives and creating plans are important, but it’s also critical to maintain flexibility and adjust to unforeseen circumstances or roadblocks that may appear. Having resilience and adaptability will help you overcome obstacles and stay on track to achieve your goals.

I lose, yet I WIN
The many times you failed and thought that that’s it for you are what we call progress. As long as you take that one step from where you are, that’s already progress. Any progress, no matter how tiny, is cause for celebration. Celebrate your small victories along the way, and try not to be too hard on yourself if things don’t go according to plan. Keep in mind that the journey is just as important as the destination.

Give yourself a pat on the back
Consider the things in your life for which you are grateful on a regular basis to help you develop an attitude of gratitude. It has been demonstrated that having gratitude increases resilience and general well-being. It also keeps you grounded and helps you enjoy the journey, no matter how difficult it may be.

The calendar says the year starts in January, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start now. You can choose to start whenever. We all have our timeline. Your start may not be today, but you can start tomorrow as long as you decide to begin while embracing the journey ahead with optimism and resilience. By adding these strategies to your life, you can have that sense of purpose, fulfillment, and joy in the remaining year of 2024 and beyond.
